Team Effort Propels Varsity and JV Riders to Saturday Morning Wins over Loudonville

TEAM EFFORT PROPELS VARSITY AND JV RIDERS TO SATURDAY MORNING WINS OVER LOUDONVILLE

Orrville continued its baseball season this morning against Loudonville, as the Red Riders headed down to Ashland County for a matchup with the Redbirds. Loudonville is the alma mater of Ron Zook, former Big Ten Coach of the Year at Illinois. Famous for his road win behind QB Juice Williams over a #1 Ranked Ohio State team, Zook actually began his coaching career under Mo Tipton in Orrville in the mid 1970s. While canoeing/tubing will be saved for a trip to Mohican on a warmer day, Orrville still came out on top today against Zook’s alma mater by a score of 5-1, continuing a hot start to the season. The combined outing by Kellen Wayt, Caeleb Snyder, and Hunter Adkins, proved to be more than enough to get the Riders over the hump this morning, as the trio surrendered only 5 hits and struck out 8 through 7 innings of solid pitching. Orrville’s offense came from numerous sources today, with Alex Smith, Caleb Carter, each bringing home an RBI, while Jacob Ott plated 2 RBIs. Those two RBIs add to the growing total for the junior catcher who has been finding his groove at the plate as of late. The Red Riders played a clean game defensively as well, committing 0 errors over the course of the ball game. Following the varsity game, the JV Red Riders took home a 10-3 win with numerous Red Riders such as Carson Cunningham, Parker Ray, and Logun Gochnauer, standing out in what continued solid starts to their seasons. The Red Riders will open a series with defending PAC-7 Baseball Champs Triway on Monday at Brenneman Field, with a 5 o’clock start time.
