Orrville Takes Game 1 Over Triway in Battle of State Ranked Wayne County Schools

ORRVILLE TAKES GAME 1 OVER TRIWAY IN BATTLE OF STATE RANKED WAYNE COUNTY SCHOOLS

The PAC-7 is an incredibly strong conference in most sports, and that looks to be the case in baseball this season. Orrville, Triway, and Tuslaw, all find themselves ranked in the state through two weeks of a young season, and tonight was the 1st matchup between any of these teams, as Orrville hosted rivals Triway in game 1 of a significant early season PAC-7 series. In the hotly anticipated contest, the Red Riders jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the 1st, and never looked back, winning 11-1 in 5 innings, emphatically handing Triway their 1st conference loss in over 700 days. It was a true hit parade for the Riders, with 7 players adding hits, and 7 reaching via walk or hit by pitch. The Red Riders jumped at the chance to plate these runners, with 7 different Red Riders getting RBIs, highlighted by Caleb Carter’s 3, and Hunter Adkins putting the game out of reach with a monster double in the bottom of the 5th. Battery mates Caleb Hills and Jacob Ott kept Triway in check, with Caleb only allowing 1 earned run in his 5 innings pitched. When batters reached base, Jacob Ott kept them where they were, throwing out two runners on attempted steals. Case McDaniel shined today in center when he was able to show his arm from center in the top of the 3rd, erasing a potential Triway run with a phenomenal throw that erased Triway’s 1st attempt to open their scoring. Today’s win was a true team effort, with every player contributing at the plate, in the field, and on the base path. The Red Riders will look to earn another win on Wednesday, this time at Triway at 5pm.
