RIDERS OVERPOWER NORTHWEST IN SERIES OPENER

Orrville’s lineup left very few stranded on the base paths today, as 9 hits, including 3 doubles, powered the Red Rider offense to 13 runs in a 6 inning victory. This 13 run outburst matched the best output of the season for the team. Powering the Red Riders with those doubles were Jacob Ott, Austin Kraft, and sophomore Carson Cunningham. Carson has strung together some solid outings in the field, and at the plate, in his 1st few varsity opportunities in a young and promising career. This should come as no surprise if you watched Cunningham excel at offensive guard under the Friday Night Lights this past season. Austin has also turned into a very reliable hand for the Riders, which builds on his stellar golf season in the fall. Kraft has been asked to wear many hats as a utility man, and has grown this season into a trustworthy and incredibly reliable player. Jacob continues what has been a hot start to the season at the plate, and really has done a great job battling back from injury, and representing the team as a captain. Cameron Kraft and Kellen Wayt have represented the team incredibly well as captains this season too, and today their contributions were easy to see, with Cam’s stellar 5 inning start being backed by his fellow captain’s 2 RBIs. Adding on two RBIs as well was steady hand, senior Brendon Boss. Orrville will look to claim a season sweep of the Indians in a trip to Canal Fulton on Wednesday at 5pm.
