BASEBALL TEAM ECLIPSES 2025 WIN TOTAL WITH SWEEP OF FAIRLESS
365 Days ago, Orrville walked out of a matchup with a PAC-7 rival with an 18-7 loss that dropped them to 4-9 overall and 2-7 in conference. In the year since, all Orrville has done since that moment is right the ship.
Since that game 1 year ago, the Red Riders have gone 21-6 overall, with a 9-1 conference record, while today’s win over a PAC-7 rival bumps this year’s team to 10 games over .500 and a sparkling 13-3 record. What a difference 1 year can make.
Orrville baseball hasn’t been 10 games above .500 since the 1998 season, a year where the team went 20-2, and brought home a district title. That team was led by head coach Rick Remenaric, alongside him was a young and up-and-comer assistant coach named Jereme Scheufler.
In what was a very close game throughout, Orrville’s Caleb Hills and Hunter Adkins won a closely contested pitchers duel with the help of offensive contributions from Kellen Wayt, Jacob Ott, Cameron Kraft, and Caleb Carter.
Orrville started the game off hot, with a single from Wayt in the bottom of the 1st eventually leading to him scoring following a sacrifice fly from junior catcher Jacob Ott.
Fairless would tie the game up in the 2nd, but Orrville regained the lead for good in the bottom of the 4th, when Cameron Kraft brought home a run on another sacrifice fly, and Caleb Carter plated Caleb Hills with a hard nosed 2-out RBI single.
As has been the story for Orrville this season, consistent excellence defensively brought home the W, as the defense recorded 0 errors, while every fielder took part in making an out throughout the game.
The 13-3 Red Riders of Orrville will look to add to that win total in their next game against future PAC-7 Rivals the Coventry Comets. The game will begin at 5pm, and will be at Coventry.
