QUARTET OF ORRVILLE PITCHERS CONFOUND HUSKIES IN 7-0 WIN

In order to begin, it must be noted that this article is being written during Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals, and the Cavs are up 74-61. Long story short, there isn’t time for a history lesson on huskies like had been planned, let’s get into the 7-0 victory the Red Riders secured this evening. Orrville’s effort today was boosted by 16 baserunners providing ample opportunities for Red Riders batters at the plate, and 4 Red Rider pitchers allowing none for the Huskies of Northwestern. At the plate, Orrville was led by Jacob Ott and Hunter Adkins both going 2-3 with an RBI, and by senior Caeleb Snyder totaling 3 RBIs in his two at bats. On the base-path and at the plate, we saw the varsity debut of Aiden Heater, as he scored his 1st career varsity run. Aiden is an incredibly hard worker has a very bright future in both football and baseball, and will undoubtedly be a fixture in the post game write ups of future seasons. Ian Higgins also made his 2nd varsity appearance, drawing his 1st career walk. Ian’s bat figures to help the Red Riders out in the not so distant future. The 4 Red Riders pitchers today were nearly untouchable, only surrendering 2 hits, shutting out the Huskies in a dominant display. Standing out was Junior Alex Smith, who closed out the shutout by striking out the side. The junior hurler figures to be a big part of the Red Rider rotation next season. 83-69 Cavs at the end of the third. Orrville will open its OHSAA Tournament play on Thursday as they host conference rivals Canton South at Brenneman Field.
